What is NCOA?
We are committed to the belief that each individual deserves to age gracefully. Our mission is clear: we aspire to enhance the lives of 40 million older adults by the year 2030. With CheckGoBenefits, we are dedicated to providing older adults with the necessary tools and resources, empowering them to navigate the aging process with both health and financial security.
About NCOA:
The National Council on Aging serves as the authoritative national advocate for the fundamental right of every individual to age well. Our firm belief is that the manner in which we age should not be influenced by factors such as gender, color, income, or ZIP code.
In collaboration with a multitude of national and local partners, we diligently furnish resources, tools, best practices, and advocacy to ensure that each person has the opportunity to age with both health and financial security. Established in 1950, we proudly stand as the oldest national organization singularly focused on the welfare of older adults.
How NCOA’s Proven Methods Assist Older Adults:
Numerous factors can act as deterrents for older adults when it comes to applying for benefit programs. Take David, a 75-year-old veteran living with a disability. Leveraging the support of NCOA’s extensive network of Benefits Enrollment Centers (BECs), David successfully enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and secured a utility support benefit.
This intervention has translated into significant annual savings for David and his wife, providing them with peace of mind as their basic needs are now within reach.
Similarly, Tom, at the age of 60, hesitated to apply for SNAP due to perceptions of a complex application process. A nearby BEC collaborated closely with Tom, guiding him through the application and aiding in his comprehension of any related correspondence. Tom’s application was approved with maximum monthly benefits, marking a substantial positive change in his circumstances.
“I’m grateful they took the time to help me apply.”
– Tom told NCOA.
